In September 2001 CCAWireless installed
wireless in this library. It was the First in Massachusetts to allow
access to the public by using their own computer to connect to the
Internet.
The library consists of a two level building of approximately 28,000
square feet covered with 802.11b signal.
The library has received awards for the skillful combination of an
historic building with new construction from the Boston Society of
Architects and was one of eight libraries to receive the 1993 Building
Award of the American Institute of Architects and the American Library
Association. When the new building opened in November 1991, it was
completely automated and is a member of NOBLE, the North of Boston
Library Exchange.
Now Patrons can experience Broadband speed to the Internet anywhere
within the Library areas by using their laptops to connect to the
library T1 line. CCAWireless is proud to provide this unprecedented
service to the citizens of Everett and surrounding towns.
The walkabout connectivity available
at the Library enables users to use their own laptops and be anywhere
while enjoying Internet service without any wait to access the fixed
public terminals. This state of the art 802.11b wireless network using
special antennas provides 11Mbs wireless coverage inside this historical
library.
